मुख्य हेपेटाइटिस टेस्ट के उपयोग

HBsAg टेस्ट (हेपेटाइटिस बी): यह टेस्ट रक्त में हेपेटाइटिस बी के सरफेस एंटीजन को खोजता है। इसका उपयोग यह जानने के लिए किया जाता है कि व्यक्ति वर्तमान में हेपेटाइटिस बी (तीव्र या क्रॉनिक) से संक्रमित है या नहीं。
Anti-HCV टेस्ट (हेपेटाइटिस सी): यह रक्त परीक्षण यह जांचने के लिए किया जाता है कि शरीर में कभी हेपेटाइटिस सी वायरस से लड़ने के लिए एंटीबॉडी बनी है या नहीं。
हेपेटाइटिस A टेस्ट (IgM): यह हेपेटाइटिस ‘ए’ वायरस के हालिया संक्रमण का पता लगाने के लिए किया जाता है。

A comprehensive hepatitis test evaluates liver health and checks for viral infections using a single blood sample. The standard “Viral Hepatitis Panel” screens for Hepatitis A, B, and C, while specific markers can detect Hepatitis D and E.

A full hepatitis screening and diagnostic workup consists of three main categories of blood tests, alongside potential imaging.

1. Viral Serology & Antigen Tests

These tests look for specific proteins (antigens) produced by the virus or immune proteins (antibodies) created by your body in response to an infection.

- Hepatitis A: Tests for HAV-IgM (detects a current, acute infection) and HAV-Total or HAV-IgG (confirms past infection or immunity).

Hepatitis B: Usually checked via a Hepatitis B Panel that includes:
- - HBsAg (Surface Antigen): Indicates an active Hepatitis B infection (acute or chronic).
  - HBsAb (Surface Antibody): Indicates immunity from a past infection or a vaccine.
  - HBcAb (Core Antibody): Indicates either a past or ongoing infection.
  - HBeAg and HBeAb: Used to determine how infectious the virus is and how well the treatment is working.
Hepatitis C: Tests for Anti-HCV antibodies. If this is positive, it means you have been exposed, but it cannot differentiate between a past cleared infection and a current active one.
Hepatitis D & E: Special antibody tests are ordered, generally only if symptoms are severe or Hepatitis B is present (as Hepatitis D only infects people with Hepatitis B).
